Middle Americans and the Politics of Alienation
While conducting extensive surveys of white voters in 1971 and again in 1975, Warren identified a group who defied the usual partisan and ideological divisions. These voters were not college educated; their income fell somewhere in the middle or lower-middle range; and they primarily held skilled and semi-skilled blue-collar jobs or sales and clerical white-collar jobs. At the time, they made up about a quarter of the electorate. What distinguished them was their ideology: It was neither conventionally liberal nor conventionally conservative, but instead revolved around an intense conviction that the middle class was under siege from above and below.
Warren called these voters Middle American Radicals, or MARS. “MARS are distinct in the depth of their feeling that the middle class has been seriously neglected,” Warren wrote. They saw “government as favoring both the rich and the poor simultaneously.” Like many on the left, MARS were deeply suspicious of big business: Compared with the other groups he surveyed—lower-income whites, middle-income whites who went to college, and what Warren called “affluents”—MARS were the most likely to believe that corporations had “too much power,” “don’t pay attention,” and were “too big.” MARS also backed many liberal programs: By a large percentage, they favored government guaranteeing jobs to everyone; and they supported price controls, Medicare, some kind of national health insurance, federal aid to education, and Social Security.

Being from Ohio, I am Happy to say Trump is Leading in the Quinnipiac University Swing State Poll
Donald Trump is ahead among Republicans in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, while former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton holds her leads but loses ground among Democrats in all three states, but Vice President Joseph Biden and Dr. Ben Carson are the best general election candidates in these key swing states, according to a Quinnipiac University Swing State Poll released today (Oct. 7).
Clinton and Trump continue to have the worst overall favorability ratings among all voters of any of the leading candidates, and the lowest scores for being honest and trustworthy, the independent Quinnipiac University Poll finds.
The Swing State Poll focuses on Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania because since 1960 no candidate has won the presidential race without taking at least two of these three states.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Ohio Gov. John Kasich both are losing their native son support among Republicans, while the leading contenders for the Republican nomination in these swing states are non-government candidates Trump and Carson and to a lesser degree Carly Fiorina.
Looking past the nominations to the top general election vote-getters:Biden gets 45 percent to Carson's 42 percent in Florida;Carson gets 46 percent to Biden's 42 percent in Ohio;Carson tops Biden 47 - 42 percent in Pennsylvania.
"Those who were waiting for Donald Trump's campaign to collapse will need to wait longer - at least in the three key states of Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania," said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

Trump funding presidential campaign without donors
Donald Trump said Tuesday he will pay for his own presidential campaign — and with a claimed net worth of $8.37 billion, he should have no problem picking up the tab.
“I’m using my own money. I’m not using the lobbyists; I’m not using donors,” he boasted to the audience during his announcement at Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue. “I’m really rich!”
The colorful real-estate mogul released a summary of his assets and liabilities that he says puts his net worth at $8,737,540,000, including:
$3.32 billion in real-estate licensing deals, brands and branded developments, such as his “Celebrity Apprentice” reality TV show and the Miss USA pageant.
$1.69 billion in commercial or mixed-use properties in New York City that he or his companies own outright, including Trump Tower and 40 Wall St.
$2 billion in golf courses and other club properties, such as the Doral resort in Miami.
$334 million in New York City residential properties.
$302 million in cash and marketable securities.
Trump said that his total assets are $9.24 billion but that he has loans, mortgages and other liabilities of roughly $500 million, bringing his net worth down to $8.73 billion.
“I’m proud of my net worth. I’ve done an amazing job!” he said, explaining that he had hired a large accounting firm to work with his in-house bean counters to determine his net worth because federal election officials will require th e data.
Trump’s claimed wealth is more than double the $4.1 billion estimated by Forbes magazine.

72 Percent Of Americans Say Country Isn’t As Great As It Once WasRepublican presidential candidate Donald Trump may be on to something with his campaign slogan.
A Bloomberg poll released Thursday shows 72 percent of the country thinks the United States isn’t as great as it once was.
When asked for the two main issues they thought were the greatest threats to America’s greatness, 31 percent answered moral decay while 27 percent said the country’s lagging work ethic was the biggest problem.
Other answers included the rise of Islamic State, which came in third at 26 percent, followed by the concentration of wealth at 25 percent. Twenty-one percent listed competition from China as their biggest grievance and 12 percent said undocumented immigrants living in the country was their main concern.

Donald Trump Has Established A Hotline For Veterans 855-VETS-352
GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump – who recently made media headlines with a spat between him and – is announcing a move to show he is committed to the military and veterans.
First, Trump is calling for all American flags to be flown at half-staff to honor the five military members who were killed in the Chattanooga, Tennessee shooting last week by a “devout Muslim,” as CNN described the shooter.Second, Trump is establishing a hotline and email address for veterans to share their stories on how the Veterans Administration should be reformed. He pledges that if elected president he will take care of the veteran complaints “very quickly and efficiently like a world-class businessman can do, but a politician has no clue.”
The hotline is 855-VETS-352 and email is veterans@donaldtrump.com.
Trump stated, “This disgraceful omission is unacceptable and yet another example of our incompetent politicians. It is a simple yet meaningful and important gesture that signifies our respect and recognition for these great soldiers who lost their lives. We must do better for all Americans, especially our military. We must Make America Great Again!”
A senior member of Trump’s campaign told Breitbart News the hotline is a place for veterans to share their stories. Trump will be personally responding to some of the messages.
