CNN Producer Says Russia Narrative “bullsh*t"

In the recent video footage obtained by Project Veritas, John Bonifield a Sr. Producer at CNN, admits to several beliefs that are in direct conflict with the official CNN narrative that Trump has colluded with Russia, and that Russia has interfered with the 2016 election. Bonifield expresses clear doubts that there is a fire behind the Russia smoke, stating, “I haven’t seen any good enough evidence to show that the President committed a crime.” He also confirms suspicions that CNN staff is ideologically biased against Trump, stating, “I know a lot of people don’t like him and they’d like to see him get kicked out of office…”

Bonifield even further confirms CNN’s bias against the President, stating, “I think the President is probably right to say, like, look you are witch hunting me...you have no real proof.”

Bonifield exposes that Russia has been great for CNN’s ratings and that orders from CEO Jeff Zucker himself have directed CNN to pursue Russia leads at the expense of other stories. Bonifield states “And the CEO of CNN said in our internal meeting, he said ‘good job everybody covering the Climate Accords, but we’re done with it let’s get back to Russia.’”

He further comments on Russia, “it’s mostly bullshit right now. Like, we don’t have any giant proof...if it was something really good, it’d leak.”

Flight 7K9268 Downed…Shot Down, The Truth Exposed

Flight 7K9268 Downed…Shot Down, The Truth Exposed

The soldiers of the caliphate succeeded in bringing down a Russian plane in Sinai.”
– ISIS statement claiming responsibility for the take down of KGL Flight 7K9268

Russia is a country now in the throws of mourning after last Saturday’s crash of Russian operated Kogalymavia (KGL) Flight 7K9268…the worst aviation disaster in Russian history. The Russian Airbus A321, just 23 minutes into its journey back to St. Petersburg from the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, crashed into a mountainous area near Wadi al-Zolomat in Egypt’s Sinai peninsula after losing radar contact at 31,000 feet. Killed were all 217 passengers and seven crew members on board, with wreckage spread out over more than eight square miles of desert…desert that holy men once tread upon. Russian airline Kogalymavia
operated by Russian airline Kogalymavia

And while leaders in Moscow and Cairo have been adamant that the jet’s downing was an accident, the fact remains that within hours of the crash a Sinai-based EgKGL 9yptian militant group…ISIS in the Sinai…claimed it had shot down the plane as payback for both Russia’s military intervention in Syria and for Vladimir Putin’s aligning with President Bashar al-Assad against the anything but ‘so called’ moderate rebels, thus verbally cemented what we have always said were the ties between said rebels and ISIS itself.

And now some ‘so-called’ government aviation experts…experts who were NOT on-scene yet who insist that the plane was NOT hit from the outside…ignore the fact that cockpit recordings revealed what were “uncharacteristic sounds” for a routine flight in the moments before the plane disappeared from radar…disappeared when just just four minutes before a routine exchange occurred between the crew and air traffic control with no unusual conversation following said exchange.

Still believing that it was either a bomb in the cargo hold set on a timer or on an altitude sensitive device…or that it was a breech of one of the fuel tanks that brought the plane down…the undisputed fact remains that a U.S. satellite picked up heat flashes both at the exact moment the Russian airliner crashed as well as heat flashes emanating from the area the plane was in before it crashed. And those flashes point to a fact either innocently overlooked or more likely to a truth that must not get out. And, we believe that truth to be, contrary to both public opinion and to what the media wants us to believe, that a missile did indeed bring down KGL Flight 7K9268.

kgl 3And here folks is why we believe so.

In photo 1, a still frame lifted directly from the video released by ISIS, you see the plane intact one second before it exploded. In photo 2, lifted from the same video, you see the plane still intact ½ second before it exploded. In photo 3, maybe a 50th to a100th of a second before the actual explosion, notice the heavy dark perfectly shaped rectangular blur below the left wing that was not there a millisecond before…that folks is a projectile hitting the plane. In photo 4, you see the exact moment of impact and the vertical disc-shaped explosion itself along with a graduating halo emanating from the point of impact. And these photos are only the first part of our proof that this plane was indeed taken down by a missile.

Please also take a look at the actual ISIS video  (before it’s taken down) and pay close attention to ‘second 4’ and you will see the still we posted. Also remember that an ISIS fighter had his cell phone video running as he was looking up, tracking, and recording this specific plane as it was flying overhead…as if he was waiting for something to happen because he knew something would be happening. And this means he knew both the flight path and the flight timing, therefore, logic dictates that this man was instructed to record this specific explosion to show the world that ISIS is a true force to be reckoned with.

And giving more credence to our above stated scenario is part 2 of our proof… three critical but hushed-up bits of information…information that has been confirmed by medical investigators on scene. First, it has confirmed that neither the debris field itself nor the recovered bodies had any explosive residue on them, and the reason there is no residue on the bodies is because the missile hit was near where the wing joined the body, basically leaving the body itself intact…meaning the people would have no explosive residue on them as the passenger cabin itself was not breached. Now couple that with the fact that if the crash was caused by an explosion in the cargo hold bomb residue would still show up on at least the bodies nearest the detonation site…as in those sitting over the cargo hold, and again no residue has shown up on any of the bodies recovered and most of the bodies have already been recovered.

And if a detonation of the magnitude that would have caused a fuel tank rupture and KGL 4subsequent explosion occurred, the fact is that said explosion would have quickly engulfed the entire plane turning it into a fireball of sorts burning up everything and everyone in sight…and with only one in five of bodies recovered being burned… some burned so badly that DNA testing will be needed to determine who they are…why then did the majority of bodies recovered show not a sign of being burnt.

The second critical bit of information is that the bodies recovered that were found burned were burned ‘ante-mortem’…meaning the burns they incurred happened before actual death and before the plane hit the ground…again with NO explosive residue found anywhere on them as would be if a bomb went off inside the plane as opposed to the plane being hit on the outside. And the third critical piece of information is that this past Tuesday, Alexander Smirnov, a Metrojet (the parent company of KGL) official, ruled out both technical issues or pilot error as the cause of the crash, saying instead that it was due to “an external impact on the plane”…and notice the word ‘external.’

The last part of our proof involves certain facts that will make some in the reKGL 7gime quite uncomfortable. First, in 2014 U.S. intel sources first suspected that ISIS had garnered surface-to-air missile capability. That was when ISIS claimed to have shot down an Iraqi helicopter and then last July, ISIS released photos showing one of their fighters firing a shoulder mounted SAM or MANPAD, however, the MANPAD system cannot reach the 31,000 foot altitude of the Russian airliner in question. It would take a rather sophisticated system, a radar guided, truck, or transport mounted system like the Russian S-200 to do so, and there have been reports that Russian surface-to-air missiles went missing after the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 back in July 2014. Remember, that jet was shot down over Ukrainian airspace by a group of Russian separatists who used a Buk surface-to-air 9M38 series missile which is capable of reaching planes flying at an altitude of 31,000 feet.

Also, a key fact that again the regime wants kept hidden at all cost is that 400 hundred American surface-to-air missiles were ‘taken’…if you will…from Libya during the terror KGL 8attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi…400 missiles that the military admitted were capable of bringing down jetliners. According to Joe diGenova, a former U.S. Attorney who represented Benghazi whistleblowers… whistleblowers who were privy to information about the government’s response during and after the Benghazi terror attack, the loss of those missiles was one the main reasons the U.S. State Department shut down 19 embassies across the Middle East after the Benghazi attack. “We have learned that one of the reasons the administration is so deeply concerned’ is that ‘there were 400 surface-to-air missiles stolen, and that they are…in the hands of many people, and that the biggest fear in the U.S. intelligence community is that one of these missiles will be used to shoot down an airliner,” diGenova said on the ‘Mornings in the Mall’ radio program soon after the attack. And when asked if the missiles were now in the hands of al-Qaeda operatives, DiGenova replied, “That is what these people (the whistleblowers) are telling us.”

And from al-Qaeda to ISIS is but a hop, skip, and a jump.

Remember, too, that ISIS has for some time claimed the ability to shoot down passenger jets and we don’t know exactly what sort of weapons, of that nature, ISIS has in their KGL 6possession, but they could very well have some of the still missing 400 missiles taken from Benghazi or one or two of the suspected missing Russian S-200 surface-to-air missiles. But what we do know as fact is that ISIS is in possession of many weapons we left in Iraq when Obama ordered the hasty pull-out, and when coupled with the fact that after the overthrow of Gaddafi many weapons in his possession made their way to Libyan ‘so-called’ rebels courtesy of the Obama regime…rebels now aligned with ISIS…it must be taken seriously when ISIS makes claims of having the capability of bringing down passenger jets…especially now when it’s ‘ISIS in the Sinai Peninsula’ doing the talking.

But as if on cue to divert us from this truth, comes the theory de-jour that the media wants us to buy into…a theory that a suicide bomber somehow got passed Egyptian security personnel and carried a bomb onto the plane. But again with no bomb residue having been found this scenario gets negated as well. But no matter which scenario you want to believe, the truth is that ISIS is indeed the culprit behind this horrific act. And with that being the case, Vladimir Putin is put in a difficult position because it means 224 Russian citizens were targeted solely to punish Putin for his intervention into the Syrian civil war.

To be sure, there are numerous theories circulating regarding how Flight 7K9268 met its kgl 10end ranging from mechanical failure, a bomb in the cargo hold, a bomb in the passenger compartment, a fuel tank rupture and our theory that it was a missile, as evidenced by what we can see in the video. A bomb in the cargo hold would have caused severe damage to luggage and yet, photos from the debris field show piles of completely intact luggage. A bomb detonated from within the passenger cabin would have done severe damage to bodies as well as leaving explosive residue on said bodies when, in fact, no such residue has been discovered, and aside from a few heavily damaged and dismembered bodies most likely caused by the actual impact, most bodies recovered were intact and showed no evidence of being burned.

And now even Vladmir Putin is backing off his previous statements that terrorism was to blame but why? Is he concerned how it would play at home should it be discovered that a stolen Russian-made missile, in the hands of ISIS, brought that plane down or could he have rethought his initial plan to launch tactical nukes at ISIS in retaliation, perhaps because some of his allies are having second thoughts about backing such a strike and Putin needs a face-saving reason not to do it?

Whatever the case, this is beginning to smell of cover-up, but the video, with that vertical blur a blink of an eye before the plane explodes, speaks voluKGL 5mes.

And while Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov continues to claim that it is “inappropriate” to link the crash to Russia’s military strategy in Syria, the fact is that innocent lives were lost, and that unlike with the case of Obama who has failed to take any serious action against ISIS at all, Vladimir Putin will indeed avenge those deaths and will do so sooner rather than later…and we can assure you his rightful revenge will not be pretty…not pretty indeed.

If you don't know how a Russian/Egypt Airbus could be shot down, you are not paying attention!

If you remember Obama is wanted the down fall of Bashar al-Assad in the worst way. Obama really wasn't doing much about ISIS until Putin forced his hand. Now the Obama administration is trying to cover his track by putting troops on the ground. Obama wanted to help the moderates and now fight ISIS. Do you know where ISIS may have got the weapons to shoot down Airbus. I'll give you one clue. It is the same game Obama and Hillary played in Libya.
What the attached segment and see if you can strategic possibilities . And don't think for a minute Russia and Egypt are not already discussing this. My contention, as well as others was that Obama was helping ISIS and the moderates to over throw Assad. We may have to except what Putin eventually says as the truth, because we sure as hell can't believe Washington

Vladimir Putin accuses US of backing terrorism in Middle East

Russian president tells gathering of politicians that Washington is playing a ‘double game’ and acting in self-interest

The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, has launched a stinging attack on US policy in the Middle East, accusing Washington of backing terrorism and playing a “double game”.

In a speech on Thursday at the annual gathering of the Valdai Club, a group of Russian and international analysts and politicians, Putin said the US had attempted to use terrorist groups as “a battering ram to overthrow regimes they don’t like”.

He said: “It’s always hard to play a double game – to declare a fight against terrorists but at the same time try to use some of them to move the pieces on the Middle Eastern chessboard in your own favour. There’s no need to play with words and split terrorists into moderate and not moderate. I would like to know what the difference is.”

Western capitals have accused Moscow of targeting moderate rebel groups during its bombing campaign in Syria, which Russia says is mainly aimed at targets linked to Islamic State. However, Putin’s talk of “playing with words” and other statements by government officials suggest Moscow believes all armed opposition to Bashar al-Assad is a legitimate target.

Putin received Assad at the Kremlin on Tuesday, and on Thursday he underlined that he considered the Syrian president and his government to be “fully legitimate”. He said the west was guilty of shortsightedness, focusing on the figure of Assad while ignoring the much greater threat of Isis.

“The so-called Islamic State [Isis] has taken control of a huge territory. How was that possible? Think about it: if Damascus or Baghdad are seized by the terrorist groups, they will be almost the official authorities, and will have a launchpad for global expansion. Is anyone thinking about this or not?”

He added: “Fifty years ago, the streets of Leningrad taught me that if a fight is inevitable, you have to hit first.”

Putin said it was “incorrect” to discuss whether or not Assad should step down, but said there was a need for dialogue.

“As far as I understand from my discussion with Assad, he’s ready for this,” said the Russian leader.

Putin said he asked Assad how he would react if Russia “found armed opposition groups who are really ready to fight terrorists” in Syria and decided to support them. Assad responded positively, according to Putin.

Asked how he saw the future of Syria and whether partition of the country could be an eventual solution, Putin said: “This would be the worst and most unacceptable option, and will not lead to the conflict being solved. It will make it worse and give it a permanent character. If you split the country into different parts they will fight among themselves forever, it will be unavoidable.”

This year the Valdai Club met at a luxury hotel in the mountain resort of Krasnaya Polyana, one of the venues for last year’s Winter Olympics. Putin arrived at the venue in a bright green Lada, part of an effort to promote the domestic car industry. He arrived late, keeping the assembled delegates waiting for nearly two hours before speaking.

A survey released on Thursday suggested that Putin’s approval rating had hit a record high of almost 90%, boosted by the Syrian air strikes. His rating was 58.8% in January 2012 before a crackdown on opposition and the annexation of Crimea.

“Such a high level of approval for the work of the Russian president is linked, in the first instance, to events in Syria, to Russian airstrikes on terrorist positions there,” said the stat-run polling agency VTsIOM.

On the sidelines of the Valdai Club conference, Russia’s ambassador to the UK, Alexander Yakovenko, said the “only logical way” to explain Britain’s behaviour in Iraq and Syria was a desire that Isis would depose Assad.

“The idea was to remove Assad using force, and to use force to seize Damascus. I don’t believe in conspiracy theories, but this is the only way to explain why de facto neither Britain nor the US has ever properly fought against Isis,” Yakovenko said.

He said with the number of airstrikes Britain had carried out in Iraq, “you could have destroyed the whole region”, but instead Isis had only grown in strength.

An analysis by Reuters of Russian defence ministry data showed this week that almost 80% of Russia’s declared targets in Syria have been in areas not held by Isis. Yakovenko said he had a meeting at the Foreign Office in London last week in which he asked for intelligence to be shared on the location of Isis targets in Syria, but was rejected. He also asked for information on the Free Syrian Army.

“We are looking closely at the Syrian Free Army. We understand there is not a single command centre, and that some of these divisions have different goals. But if among the FSA there are divisions that are really ready to fight with Isis, who is our main enemy in Syria, and if you think there are people or commanders or other contacts which could be useful and to cooperate with them, we would be grateful for such information,” he said. “We were again rejected.”

Since 2011 the US has been waging covert war against Syria using Al Qaeda and ISIS terrorists

Since 2011 the US has been waging covert war against Syria using Al Qaeda and ISIS terrorists as its proxy mercenaries. Tens of thousands have died, millions have been displaced and still, the US seeks to pursue this deadly, destructive agenda.

With Iraq and Libya destroyed, Syria and Yemen under attack, if this tide of chaos isn't stopped in Syria now, a more dangerous confrontation faces humanity in the near future.

As Dumb As She Is You Know She Was Hacked! Spam Sent to Hillary Clinton Server Prompts

Spam Sent to Hillary Clinton Server Prompts Look at Suspected Russian Hacking

WASHINGTON — It turns out that Hillary Rodham Clinton’s private email account, like seemingly everyone else’s in America, was hit by spam sent to try to lure her into clicking on a malicious link — one that could have compromised the security of her communications when she was secretary of state.
But did that put her more at risk than if she had relied solely on the State Department’s internal systems? Almost certainly not. After all, in 2014 the unclassified email systems at the State Department and the White House were shut down, often for days at a time, as government security experts tried to erase the damage done by the hackers, suspected to be Russians, probably linked to the government.  It seems virtually certain, investigators say, that the offenders in that case siphoned vast numbers of emails out of both systems.

Still, the evidence that Mrs. Clinton’s personal account had been on the receiving end of a “spear phishing” attempt, revealed in a batch of her emails released by the State Department on Wednesday, raises the same question the F.B.I. is trying to answer as it combs through the forensic evidence from the server that was once in Mrs. Clinton’s basement.

And that is whether the attackers who successfully got into the unclassified systems at the State Department and the White House also got into Mrs. Clinton’s. She would have been a natural target for a state-sponsored cyberattack by adversaries who have made clear their determination to learn as much as they can about the inner workings of the United States government. And the possible vulnerability of her home-based system remains a central mystery in the investigations.

“It would stand to reason,” one person involved in the investigation said recently, “that anyone who had planted malware in the State Department system would have seen a very high-level official talking to other high-level officials, and followed the trail.” But, the person added, “we don’t know that happened.”

The person spoke on the condition of anonymity so as to not be identified discussing a continuing investigation.

Nick Merrill, a spokesman for the Clinton campaign, said there was no evidence that the system had ever been breached. “All these emails show is that, like millions of other Americans, she received spam,” he said.

There is also no evidence that the spammers who targeted her knew that it was the secretary of state at the other end of the attack. The fact that it was sent four times to her account over a period of hours suggests it was sent by an automated system.

Some experts disagree. Justin Harvey, the chief security officer of Fidelis Cybersecurity, said in an interview that “the chances are still quite high that it was humanly targeted.” In such an attack, the spam probably would have been sent first to her aides, in hopes of getting to her account.

But if Mrs. Clinton’s system was successfully pierced — perhaps in some other attack — Mrs. Clinton might well not have known it, either. Other email accounts, including one for her husband, Bill, the former president, resided on the same server in their basement of their home in Chappaqua, N.Y. No one has yet explained what kind of monitoring systems were on that server, if any.

Eric H. Holder Jr., the previous attorney general, often said, “There are two kinds of companies in America: those who know they have been the subject of cyberattacks, and those who don’t know they have been the subject of cyberattacks.” That dictum seems to apply to the State Department as well.

It took officials there weeks or months to catch on to the attack, officials said this year. That is a pretty good record compared with the Office of Personnel Management, who did not know for more than a year that security dossiers on roughly 22 million Americans, and millions of fingerprints, had been secretly transmitted to servers in China.

If Mrs. Clinton felt safer on her own system than on the State Department’s, she was hardly alone. One of Mrs. Clinton’s top policy aides, Anne-Marie Slaughter, noted in another email released Wednesday that “State’s technology is so antiquated that NO ONE uses a State-issued laptop, and even high officials routinely end up using their home email accounts to be able to get their work done quickly and effectively.”

What was true in 2011 remains true today. The State Department on Thursday confirmed a report in The Boston Globe that Secretary of State John Kerry had occasionally received work related emails on a personal account.

“This is an acknowledgment of the reality that Secretary Kerry has decades-old friendships, and those friends have emailed him on a personal account for years,” said John Kirby, a spokesman for the State Department. Mr. Kerry has taken several steps to ensure that he complied with federal record-keeping rules, the State Department said, adding that it has a process in place to review Mr. Kerry’s personal emails to make sure they are forwarded to his work account and backed up on a federal record-keeping system.

The F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, said Thursday that he was certain the bureau would be able to complete the investigation into Mrs. Clinton’s personal email account in a timely manner and that he would make sure politics did not interfere with it.

“I am following this very closely, and I get briefed on it regularly,” Mr. Comey told reporters at F.B.I. headquarters.

The F.B.I. opened its investigation into how classified materials were handled in connection with Mrs. Clinton’s account in response to a referral from the inspector general for the intelligence community after sensitive national security information was found on the account. It is illegal to have classified information on an unsecured network.

Mr. Comey declined to discuss the specifics of the inquiry, but said that one of the reasons he has a 10-year term as director was “to make sure this organization stays outside of politics.”
Correction: October 3, 2015

A headline on Friday with an article about Hillary Rodham Clinton’s email server overstated what is known about an investigation into the server’s security. As the article correctly noted, Mrs. Clinton received spam email that was intended to place malware on her computer network; the investigation has not yet determined that the malware effort was successful.

Vladimir Putin interview KGB and Syria topics. He meets with Obama and speaks to UN today

Russian President Vladimir Putin appeared on CBS’s “60 Minutes” Sunday and told show host Charlie Rose that Russia does not plan on telling Syria who their leader should be, nor does Russia plan putting troops in Syria.
Rose asked the Russian president, “So you would like to join the United States in the fight against ISIS? That’s part of why you’re there. Others think that while that may be part of your goal, you’re trying to save the Assad administration because they’ve been losing ground and the war has not been going well for them. And you’re there to rescue them.”
Putin said he does not want to take down Assad and said that the only solution to the Syrian crisis is “strengthening the effective government structures and rendering them help in fighting terrorism.”
“We support the legitimate government of Syria. And it’s my deep belief that any actions to the contrary in order to destroy the legitimate government will create a situation which you can witness now in the other countries of the region or in other regions, for instance in Libya where all the state institutions are disintegrated. We see a similar situation in Iraq. And there is no other solution to the Syrian crisis than strengthening the effective government structures and rendering them help in fighting terrorism. But, at the same time, urging them to engage in positive dialogue with the rational opposition and conduct reform.”
“It’s only the Syrian people who are entitled to decide who should govern their country and how,” Putin said. “Russia will not participate in any troop operations in the territory of Syria or in any other states. Well, at least we don’t plan on it right now. But we are considering intensifying our work with both President Assad and with our partners in other countries.”

Chinese Military Personnel, "Aerial Assets" Allegedly En Route To Syria

 Listen to this article

On Wednesday evening, we suggested that Vladimir Putin’s explicit promise to go ahead with airstrikes against terrorist targets in Syria with or without the help of the US effectively marks the end of Washington’s years-old effort to destabilize and ultimately remove the Assad regime.
The Kremlin's pronouncement came just a day after the mainstream media began reporting that Moscow and Tehran are coordinating their efforts on the ground (something which should come as no surprise to anyone) meaning any Sunni extremists and/or CIA-trained “freedom fighters” intent on seizing control of the country will now need to go through Russia and Iran, with the latter now seemingly willing to make the badly kept secret of its military support for Assad no secret at all.
Of course the thing about irreparably bad situations is that although they cannot, by definition, get better, they can always get worse and for the US in Syria, that would mean China showing up. Beijing has made a concerted effort this year to project the growing power and influence of the PLA navy. That effort has so far involved an unprecedented land reclamation effort in the Spratlys, a “rescue” operation in the Yemeni port of Aden, and a surprise appearance off the coast of Alaska.

(a Chinese soldier in Yemen on March 29)
Given that, and given what we know about Beijing’s support for Moscow and Tehran, the following from pro-Assad Al-Masdar news shouldn’t come as a complete surprise:
The recent arrival of the Russian Marines and Air Force to the Syrian port-city of Tartous has generated a significant amount of interest around the world, as the possibility of Russia’s direct military intervention becomes the focal point of the war on ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham).

Should the Russians begin military operations in Syria, what role with the U.S. led “Anti-ISIS Coalition” play in combatting the terrorist group? Will they coordinate with one another? Will they avoid one another?

Russia seems poised to take a similar approach to the U.S. led Coalition; however, they are not seeking the assistance of the neighboring Arab countries to combat the terrorist group.

Instead, the Russians appear to have a contingency that involves another world power that was absent from the U.S. led Anti-ISIS Coalition: China.

On Tuesday morning, a Chinese naval vessel reportedly traveled through Egypt’s Suez Canal to enter the Mediterranean Sea; its destination was not confirmed.

However, according to a senior officer in the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) that is stationed inside the Syrian coastal city of Latakia, Chinese military personnel and aerial assets are scheduled to arrive in the coming weeks (6 weeks) to the port-city of Tartous – he could not provide anymore detail.
This comes two years after China warned that turmoil in Syria could have negative implications for the global economy and 18 months after Beijing, along with Moscow, used their security council vetoes to undercut a UN resolution calling for the crisis in Syria to be referred to the Hague. Here's what China had to say at the May 22, 2014 meeting:
Mr. Wang Min (China) (spoke in Chinese): For over three years, the escalation of the conflict in Syria has inflicted deep suffering on the Syrian people and posed a serious challenge to the countries of the region and the international community. China has always maintained that all parties in Syria should respect human rights and international humanitarian law and prevent innocent people from being harmed during the conflict. China is firmly opposed to all violations of international humanitarian law or serious violations of human rights committed by all parties to the conflict in Syria. However, with regard to draft resolution S/2014/348, on which the Council voted earlier, China has some serious reservations. First, China believes that any action to seek recourse to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to prosecute the perpetrators of serious violations should be conducted on the basis of respect for State judicial sovereignty and the principle of complementarity. China is not a State party to the Rome Statute. China always has reservations concerning the referral by the Security Council of particular country situations to the ICC. This is our principled position.

Secondly, efforts to seek a political settlement to the question of Syria are encountering difficulties. The international community must shore up its confidence, remain patient and be steadfastly committed to the overall direction of the political settlement. What is most urgently needed now is to urge the Government of Syria and the opposition to immediately implement a ceasefire and put an end to the violence in order to start a third round of negotiations in Geneva so as to advance the political process and embark on a political transition. In the current circumstances, to forcibly refer the situation in Syria to the ICC is not conducive either to building trust among all parties in Syria or to an early resumption of the negotiations in Geneva. It will only jeopardize the efforts made by the international community to push for a political settlement.

Thirdly, for some time now, the Security Council has maintained unity and coordination on the question of Syria, thanks to efforts by Council members, including China, to accommodate the major concerns of all parties. At a time when seriously diverging views exist among the parties concerning the draft resolution, we believe that the Council should continue holding consultations, rather than forcing a vote on the draft resolution, in order to avoid undermining Council unity or obstructing coordination and cooperation on questions such as Syria and other major serious issues. Regrettably, China’s approach has not been taken on board; China therefore voted against the draft resolution.
Yes, "regrettably China's approach has not been taken on board" and so, more than a year later that approach might have just shifted to a strategy that involves direct military intervention on behalf of Assad.
For now, this is still in the realm of speculation as the story cited above certainly falls short of providing anything in the way of conclusive evidence for a claim that the Chinese military is set to intervene directly. That said, the last several weeks have proven that the situation in Syria is remarkably fluid and what seems far-fetched one day has the potential to become reality the next, which is why we contend that Xi Jinping very well may decide that Raqqa is as good a place as any to test out some of the equipment that was on full display in Beijing earlier this month.
